  • It usually occurs just once a year, but can occur as many as three times.
  • According to folklorists, there is no written evidence of this superstition before the late 19th century.
  • According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day.
  • Fear of Friday the 13th — one of the most popular myths in science — is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.
  • Every Friday the 13th thousands of bikers ride down the streets of small town of Port Dover Ontario, Canada.
  • Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor and some airline terminals omit Gate 13.
